Two BurrosVineyard
We have a half acre of Marechal Foch grapes that we use to produce our own wine we've named (and the vineyard) Two Burros. Foch is an excellent variety for the Cowichan Valley and we've grown it without the use of pesticides since 2006. Wines made from Marechal Foch tend to have strong acidity, aromas of black fruits and, in some cases, toasted wheat, mocha, fresh coffee, bitter chocolate, vanilla bean, and musk. In the darker variants of the wine a strong gamey nose is also often described.
In 2016 our grapes were about 24 Brix or Percentage sugars, we were harvesting by the second week of September without any sign of mildew or mold. The vintage is a fruity full flavored red that pairs well with beef or is great chilled or as the base for Sangria a refreshing afternoon wine, brandy and fresh orange based fruit drink.
